Editorial Policy

How the ScheduleMyServices guides are researched, written, reviewed and kept up to date.

Purpose and scope

Our guides help US consumers understand, plan and prepare for everyday service appointments. We cover three areas only: home services, automotive and technology. Each guide focuses on one service and answers the practical questions people have before, during and after a visit.

Who writes the guides

Guides are published under the byline “ScheduleMyServices Editorial Team”. We don’t list individual author profiles or claim professional trade credentials. The guides are consumer-preparation material, not instructions for doing repairs.

Use of AI tools

We use AI writing tools to help research outlines and prepare first drafts. AI output is never published unreviewed. An editor checks every guide for accuracy, clarity, safety and tone, removes anything unsupported, and makes sure facts that depend on rules or safety guidance are either linked to an authoritative source or phrased generally with a pointer to the right authority.

Writing standards

  • Practical: checklists, questions and steps you can use, not filler.
  • Honest about variation: prices, wait times and rules vary by area and provider, so we don’t quote figures we can’t support. We tell you to get a written estimate instead.
  • Safety first: where a job is hazardous, we tell readers not to attempt it themselves and to contact a qualified professional or emergency service.
  • Scam-aware: we describe common pressure tactics and payment scams so readers can recognize them.
  • No fabrication: no invented statistics, testimonials, ratings or quotes.

Sources

We prefer primary and official sources, such as federal consumer protection, environmental and transportation safety agencies, and link to them in a “Sources and further reading” list at the end of each guide. We do not link to providers or businesses as recommendations.

Independence

No business pays to appear in, shape or review our guides. We don’t accept free services or products in exchange for coverage. The site does not currently carry advertising or affiliate links. If that changes, commercial content will be clearly labeled and kept separate from editorial decisions.

Updates and corrections

Each guide shows the date it was published and, when changed, the date it was last updated. We review guides when rules or common practices change. If you think something is wrong, email support@schedulemyservices.net with the page address. We will check it and, if we agree, correct the guide and update its date.
